Attic insulation grants 2026: LogisVert and Rénoclimat

What is LogisVert?

LogisVert is Hydro-Québec's energy-efficiency program. For insulation, it's the simplest and most direct help in 2026: $1,500 when your work combines roof insulation (for example the attic) and air sealing (caulking). Unlike other programs, no pre-work energy evaluation is required, which makes it especially accessible.

The rules below come from Hydro-Québec's participation guide (the French version is dated September 15, 2026). The insulation component hasn't changed since 2025, but a program can always evolve. If your attic is due, now is a good time.

Grant programs

How much can you receive?

For the insulation component, LogisVert pays $1,500 for the combination of roof insulation + air sealing. It's a fixed amount, not one calculated case by case. If every condition is met, you receive $1,500; if not, you receive nothing. Two details from the guide: the grant can't exceed the cost of the work before taxes, and it goes up by 5% if the same application includes another LogisVert measure.

Hydro-Québec pays the grant after the work. You apply online, and the amount arrives by mail 10 to 12 weeks after a complete application.

Note: the two components go together. Insulating the attic without doing the complete air sealing, or the reverse, doesn't qualify. Which makes sense. A well-insulated attic that still leaks warm air through the ceiling loses a good part of its efficiency.

In concrete terms, on a typical attic insulation at $1,995 before taxes with us, that $1,500, paid after the work, brings your cost down to $495 before taxes. Few residential renovations get subsidized in that proportion, which makes attic insulation one of the most profitable projects to do in 2026.

The main conditions

• You own a house lived in year-round: single-family, semi-detached, row house, mobile home or cottage. Condos and plexes don't qualify, and the measure can be done only once per dwelling.
• The house is heated mainly with electricity and supplied by the Hydro-Québec grid (or by an autonomous, municipal or cooperative grid).
• After the work, the whole roof surface reaches a thermal resistance of at least RSI 8.8, i.e. R-50. We explain what that means in our article on attic R-value.
• The air sealing covers the eight required items, whether or not they leak: windows, exterior doors, patio doors, attic access hatches, range hoods, bathroom fans, electrical outlets and fireplaces.
• The work is carried out by a contractor registered with the Quebec enterprise register (REQ) holding an RBQ licence, subcategory 7.0 (insulation, sealing, roofing and exterior cladding).
• You apply online, no later than 9 months after the work, with proof of ownership and the paid invoices. The invoice shows the contractor's RBQ licence number, GST and QST numbers, the insulation installed and the new insulation value, in RSI or R.

Are you eligible? The 5-point checklist

1. You own a house heated mainly with electricity (baseboards, heat pump, electric furnace), and it's neither a condo nor a plex.
2. Your roof can reach R-50 (RSI 8.8) over its whole surface after the work. True of practically every accessible attic where insulation can be blown in.
3. You're ready to do the air sealing at the same time, on the eight required items. The two components are inseparable.
4. Your contractor holds the RBQ 7.0 licence and is registered with the REQ. Ask for the licence number; a serious contractor gives it without hesitating (ours is shown on our quotes).
5. You keep your paid invoices and apply within 9 months of the work. No photos are required for this measure.

If you check all 5 boxes, your file has every chance of going through. Any doubt on one point? Ask before the work, not after.

Rénoclimat, the other program

The other major program, Rénoclimat, is run by the Government of Quebec. Its help depends on the insulation in place before the work and on the area insulated:

For an attic, the full $1,500 is paid only if the insulation in place before the work is R-12 or less, and the roof reaches R-50 over its whole surface after. With more than R-12 and up to R-25 before the work, the help is $750; with more than R-25 and up to R-35, it's $250.

The trade-off: Rénoclimat requires an energy evaluation before AND after the work. Anything started before the first evaluation is refused, the classic trap for people who start their renovations too fast. That first evaluation costs $150 plus taxes, refunded with the grant; the one after the work is free.

LogisVert or Rénoclimat: which one to choose?

The two programs don't play in the same league, and that's a good thing:

• LogisVert = the fast lane. Fixed amount ($1,500 for roof + air sealing), no energy evaluation, simple file. Ideal if your project is the attic. And if your attic already has more than R-12, it's also the bigger grant of the two: Rénoclimat then pays $750 or less for the roof.
• Rénoclimat = the generous lane for big projects. If you're doing roof, walls and windows the same year, the $20,000 (house) or $40,000 (duplex, triplex or larger) caps change the math, provided you accept the two evaluations and the delays that come with them.

Can you combine them? You can't receive two grants for the same work: the LogisVert guide (section 4.1) and the Rénoclimat guide (section 2.3) both rule it out. For different work, neither guide clearly forbids it or confirms it. Ask Rénoclimat before you sign anything.
